The trek starts with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Kande and start to trek to Pitam Deurali. From Deurali, the trail goes through forest camp to Low camp. Up to the low camp, the trail goes through the forests throughout the day. Trekking from Low Camp to High camp is a bit challenging one. The trail from high camp is rocky and tricky one. It might be challenging to hike the steep rocky section. After 5-6 hours of hike, you will reach the Mardi Himal Base Camp. From there, you can see the majestic views of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Mt. Fishtail and many whiter snowcapped peaks.
Adventure Leaders Nepal organize Mardi Trek anytime in a year. However, we have a few suggestions if you want to make a lifetime experience during this trek. Spring and Autumn is the most recommended time for the trekking in Nepal. The temperature is warm and mild. There will be little bit of snow during these seasons. Winter season is also not a bad time to trek. However, the temperature is very cold with heavy snow. If you want to add some adventure on your trip then you can do this trek during the winter. The time we don’t recommend at all is summer season. It is not a good time to trek as trail gets muddy due to rainfall.
Packing list for Mardi Himal Trekking
Trekking to Mardi Himal doesn’t require technical gear and equipment. Mardi Trek is very short and easy. We suggest to pack hiking shoes, warm shocks, down jackets, T-shirts, and small backpack. Likewise, not to forget to carry the camera, battery charger, and torch light. Moreover, get some toilet paper, towel, under wears, sunglasses, sleeping bags, extra trousers, etc. But, if you are trekking in winter we recommend having crampons and spikes. It helps you to walk easily on snowy trail. And if you are planning to trek during monsoon never forget to carry raincoat.
Is Mardi Himal Trek challenging?
Mardi Himal Trek is very easy trek even for the beginners. However, if you are somehow fit mentally and physically, it becomes a lot easier. There is no direct climbing or technical difficulty. Although, the trail is a bit tricky near high camp and Mardi Base Camp. You have to face some rocky trails before reaching to the Base Camp. So, it is better to do some short hiking or fitness training before trekking to Mardi. On average, you will walk 4-5 hours in a day. As a beginner, it shouldn’t be a problem for any trekkers.

We walk towards the High Camp at the beginning of the day early in the morning, after getting breakfast, to our main destination-the Mardi Base Camp-at last. The Mardi Base Camp takes about 5 hours. At the base camp, we will enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the tropical flora and fauna and snowy mountains. We are going to spend some time visiting the glamorous Himalayas and the mountainous mountains.
To be honest you don’t have to be a runner to enjoy the trek. But the preparation will probably save you a lot of pain and suffering on the trail and help you to enjoy your experience there. The suggestions we have for physically preparing is to take good, long, brisk walks, preferably wearing a pack with a similar load that you’ll be carrying. Cycling and swimming are also great alternatives too, as is just about anything that gets your cardio working. Do some breathing exercise to get more oxygen into your lungs? Watch for signs of altitude sickness: symptoms include headaches, dizziness, sleeplessness, loss of appetite and breathlessness. Bring a supply of the medication Diamox for treatment; if symptoms persist, descend. Trekking to Everest Base Camp may not be the trip for everyone as it is quite a physically demanding experience, and when you combine high altitude with plenty of climbs, you may get a recipe for suffering. But normal, average, travelers can do Everest Base Camp trek.
Most of the tea houses do have western-style flushing toilets. But in higher elevation, you may also find the traditional type of toilet made of either a ceramic basin on the ground or few planks precariously positioned over a hole in the ground and it is situated outside the room.
Travel insurance & rescue when travelling to a remote destination like Nepal is strongly advised. It should provide adequate protection for the full duration of the tour. Your insurance policy must cover all the activities that you will be undertaking during your stay in Nepal such as helicopter rescue, cancellation, air ambulance, injury, death, lost baggage, theft, liability, medical treatment, and cover repatriation and personal expenses. If a client becomes ill, all hospital expenses, doctors’ fees, and repatriation costs are the client’s responsibility. For reliable travel insurance, we have the suggestion of some of the best insurance companies: Cover more or Europe assistance or Travel Direct- TID. We have an agreement with Helicopter Company to do the payment of Helicopter evacuation after we collect the payment with you once you have been rescued. And the reimbursement responsibility from your insurance company will go up to you. Be sure your policy specifically covers helicopter evacuation and does not exclude mountaineering or alpinism.
