Barkhor Street

 Drepung Monastery 

A visit to Drepung Monastery is one of the most important parts of the Tibetan Lhasa city tour. Drepung Monastery is one of the “Big 3” Gelug Monasteries alongside Sera Monastery and Ganden Monastery. Sera Monastery

Sera Monastery is one of the three great temples alongside Drepung Monastery and Ganden Monastery and is a symbol of the Gelug temple in the northern suburbs of Lhasa. The monastery was built in 1419 and has a large meetinghouse, three universities, and a residence on the eastern side.
