Langtang Valley Trek is nearest trekking destination from Kathmandu valley, which is still unknown for many trekkers. It lies in the north of Kathmandu valley, that takes you to the Tibetan Border. Apart from Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek, only few trekkers knows about this trek. The trek takes you to the highest altitude of 4000 meters, mostly dominated by Langtang Himalayas. However, if you want to go to Tserko Ri, the highest elevation would be 5000 meters. The Langtang Valley Trek is a stunning journey through the Himalayan mountains of Nepal. This trek offers breathtaking views of the majestic Langtang Range, lush green forests and traditional villages. It also provides an opportunity to explore the unique culture and lifestyle of Tamang people living in this region.
Trek to Langtang begins with the a day drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. Likewise, it takes you through the Langtang National Park, tranquil Tamang and Sherpas settlements, beautiful monasteries, rivers, and waterfalls. Moreover, the trek allows you to witness Dorje Lokpa, Langtang Ri, Langtang Lirung, and other small snowcapped peaks. Furthermore, come across through the Yak Pastures, flora and fauna, and Local cheese Factories. The trek is ideal for those who is seeking for relatively easy and off the beaten trail.
What are the permit required for Langtang Valley Trek?
Langtang Valley trek as it is a protected area. There are two types of permits you will need: the Langtang National Park Entry Permit and the TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card.
The Langtang National Park Entry Permit is obtained from the Nepal Tourism Board office in Kathmandu or from the national park entrance gate in Syabrubesi. The cost of the permit varies depending on the season, but generally it is around USD $30.
Best Time to Trek Langtang:
The ideal seasons for the Langtang Valley Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These months offer clear skies, pleasant weather, and breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. Trekking during the monsoon season (June to August) is not recommended due to heavy rainfall and potential landslides.

How difficult is Langtang Valley Trek?
Langtang Valley Trek is one of the most beautiful and challenging treks in Nepal. It is a 5-7 days trek that takes you through some of the most stunning landscapes and offers you a chance to explore traditional villages, lush forests, and snow-capped mountains. The trek is not easy and requires physical fitness, mental strength, and determination. However, with proper planning and preparation, it can be an enjoyable experience for all levels of trekkers. Even as a beginner you can do this trek, but trekking up to Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri might be a bit difficult. So, you need to be prepared mentally and physically at first.
Day 01: Arrival and Transfer you to the Hotel.
After you arrive at Tribhuwan international airport, staff from Adventure Leaders Nepal will pick you up from Hotel and transfer you to the Hotel.
Day 02: Drive to Syabrubeshi. (1460m, 7-8 hours)
Leave the Kathmandu Valley early in the morning to Syabrubeshi through the town of Trishuli. The drive is kind of adventurous passing off-road highways. Overnight stay at Syabrubesi.
Day 03: Trek to Lama Hotel. (2470m, 5-6 hours)
From Syabrubesi, the trail gradually ascends through the forests of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo, passing by small settlements such as Doman, Bamboo, and Rimche. After walking for around 6-7 hours, you will reach Lama Hotel. The Lama Hotel is a small Gurung Settlement with few tea houses. Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.
Day 04: Trek to Langtang Village.
The trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village is a beautiful and scenic route that takes you through the Langtang Valley, a region known for its stunning mountain views, scenic landscapes, and rich culture. From Lama Hotel, you will continue to trek along the Langtang River, passing through dense forests of rhododendron and pine trees. The trail gradually ascends through small villages such as Gumanechok, Ghoda Tabela, and Thangsyap before reaching Langtang Village. Likewise, the stunning views of Langtang Lirung along the route. Overnight stay at Langtang Village.
Day 05: Trek to Kyangin Gompa. (3800m, 4-5 hours)
The trail steadily goes pass Yak Pastures and the views of the mountains opens up gradually. Likewise, cross several small rivers, moraine, before reaching at Kyanjin. If you reach early in the afternoon then you can visit local monasteries and cheese factories in the evening. Likewise, you can see the beautiful views of Langshisha Kharka. Overnight stay at Kyanjin Gompa.
Day 06: Hike to Kyanjin Ri and Trek back to Langtang Village. (4850m, 6-7 hours)
Today wake up early in the morning and trail takes you towards the Kyanjin Ri. The ridge offers the outstanding views of Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri, Dorje Lakpa, and many other small peaks. It takes around 2-3 hours to reach at the top of the Kyanjin Ri. After enjoying the view, we will trek down and have lunch and start to climb down to Langtang Village. Overnight stay at Langtang Village.
Day 07: Trek to Lama Hotel. (2470m, 3-4 hours)
While returning back to Lama hotel, slowly the views of Langtang Lirung and Dorje Lakpa starts to disappear. Similarly, the you will trek back through the same route while we took during the trekking up to the Langtang village. Enjoy the birds chirping along the forests and the sounds of the rivers. Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.
Day 08: Trek to Sybarubeshi (1460m, 3-4 hours)
After having breakfast, we will hike down to syabrubeshi for 3 hours. After reaching syabrubeshi, you will have a lot of time to just explore around the Syabrubeshi village. Overnight stay at Syabrbeshi.
Day 09: Drive Back Kathmandu.
The trek to Langtang Valley ends with the 7-8 hours drive back to Kathmandu. We will catch a local bus or jeep following the same highway of Trishuli. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
